Ray Fisher responds to DC Films president’s departure from Warner Bros. Discovery

Ray Fisher’s Problems With Warner Bros. are well documented and he couldn’t let Walter Hamada’s departure pass without comment.

Ray Fisher‘s time as part of the DCEU was tumultuous to say the least, and the Justice League star made his feelings for the outgoing president of DC Films Walter Hamada when he stepped down after four years overseeing DC projects at Warner Bros. Despite the Justice League being a breakthrough role for Fisher, after his brief debut as Cyborg in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it is well documented that Fisher was one of the people who described toxic behavior on the set of director Joss Whedon’s film. Since Hamada was reportedly protecting Whedon from these allegations, Fisher was quick to celebrate the change of mind on his Twitter account. The actor wrote:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“Walter Hamada tried to protect his toxic and discriminatory colleagues. He failed. He tried to bury me (and the Justice League investigation) with lies in the trade. He failed. He’s a product of old Hollywood friends. May we never experience his kind again. Forward.”

With Hamada leading the DCEU through all the ups and downs for the past four years, but times are changing at Warner Bros. Discovery when it comes to the output of what should be the largest lender. Exactly what the future of DC Films will look like is yet to be determined, but one certainty is that Hamada will not be a part of that. A search is now underway for his replacement as the next president of DC Films.

Will Ray Fisher return as Cyborg in the DCEU?

Ray Fisher’s role in Justice League was drastically reduced in the theatrical release of Justice League, and while this has been reinstated by Zack Snyder, it’s still an unanswered question whether Fisher will return as Cyborg in a future project. Last year, Fisher did give a sign that he was more than up for a return to the franchise, but only on the condition that Warner Bros. apologizes for his experiences. He previously said:

“I don’t really expect anything, do I? Especially dealing with big companies. They will often find a way to defy any expectation you have. But I think we can start with an acknowledgment and an apology of what is obvious, which is known is that it’s a lie. Then we can see where it goes. We can have that conversation, but I think that’s where the responsibility starts. We’re able to come to the table and say, “These are the things that happened, let’s go ahead and try…” There seems to be some sort of story, I don’t know why it is, but there is something that when you apologize, indicates weakness. I have to apologize for things time everywhere. Right? In the end it turns out, ‘hey, I understand what the situation is.’ I’m willing to talk about that. If it’s something people want to take the first step on. Like I said, I don’t have too many expectations in that regard. “

The future of the DCEU has now taken another step forward with the release of Black Adam this week, but who will be included in that future is something we can only wait to find out as Warner Bros. Discovery is finally trying to make the franchise’s crown jewel.
