It’s official: the Golden Globes are coming back to television.

NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced Tuesday morning that the 2023 ceremony – the 80th anniversary of the Globes – will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, broadcast live from coast to coast. other on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

Although the show traditionally airs on a Sunday in January, the NBC finale Sunday night football the season airing is already confirmed for January 8, while the Critics’ Choice Awards are scheduled for Sunday, January 15.

NBC announced in May 2021 that it would not be broadcasting the 79th Golden Globes, after the HFPA was besieged by a scandal over its lack of backstage representation. At the time, of the 87 members of the organization, none were black. The HFPA eventually announced its intention to reform its bylaws in an effort to diversify its membership, although many industry players found the proposed changes unsatisfactory. In fact, both Netflix and WarnerMedia at the time confirmed that they would stop working with the HFPA until a “meaningful” change was enacted.

The HFPA recently announced the introduction of 103 new voters to its ranks, marking the first time voters based outside the United States have been included in the pool. The electorate is now represented by 62 different countries and, combined with current HFPA members, is 52% female and 51.5% racially and ethnically diverse (including 19.5% Latino members, 12 % Asian, 10% Black and 10% Middle Eastern) .

“We recognize the HFPA’s commitment to continued change,” said Frances Berwick, President of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, “and we look forward to hosting the Golden Globes again on NBC for its 80th anniversary in January 2023. “

HFPA President Helen Hoehne said, “It’s great to be back at the Beverly Hilton for the unmissable celebration recognizing the best in film and television. The HFPA remains committed to meaningful change and support programs that prioritize diversity, inclusion, and transparency.

The winners of the most recent ersatz Golden Globes were announced at an untelevised ceremony in January.
