Saint Omer, Joyland Among Palm Springs International Film Festival Award Winners

The Palm Springs International Film Festival announced the winners of this year’s event, with “Saint Omer,” the charged courtroom drama that is France’s shortlist for this year’s Oscars, taking first prize for International Feature Film.

Films qualified for the Oscars were celebrated at the high-profile annual festival, with 134 films screened from 64 countries. In addition to the win in “Saint Omer,” acting honors went to Ali Junejo of “Joyland,” Pakistan’s official LGBTQ+-focused entry, and Oksana Cherkashyna for Ukraine’s war drama “Klondike.” Mubi’s acclaimed drama “Alcarràs” claimed the screenplay award and the documentary award went to Canadian rape justice film “To Kill a Tiger”.
