Sally Field to be Honored at 2023 SAG Awards with Life Achievement Award

Sally Field will be honored at the 2023 SAG Awards with the ceremony’s coveted Life Achievement Award, the Screen Actors Guild announced Tuesday.

As the union’s highest honor, the award is given in recognition of Field’s career achievements and humanitarian accomplishments.

Coincidentally, with Field’s latest studio project, starring in the upcoming sports comedy “80 for Brady,” the two-time Oscar winner follows in the footsteps of her co-stars and former SAG Life Award recipient Rita Moreno, who was honored in 2013, and Lily Tomlin. , who was honored in 2016.

“Sally is an incredible actress with tremendous range and an uncanny ability to play any character. I have watched with joy the beginnings of her career when she played Gidget and the Flying Nun and later, in increasingly challenging roles, such as Sybil and Norma Rae,” SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher said in a statement. . “She never failed to be extraordinary, even recently in Winning Time where she was simply sublime as Jessie Buss.”

Drescher continued, “She has an enduring career because she is authentic in her performance and always projects warmth and humanity, she just connects. That’s part of why she’s kept her massive fan following and her career incredibly rich and layered. Sally is a big star with the spirit of a working actor: she keeps doing the job, being as good as you can be. Each stage of an actor’s life brings different opportunities, and you just need to keep working. Sally doesn’t stop and we hope she never will.”
