Sam Neill wants to change his recent narrative blood cancer diagnosisassuring fans that his stage three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma is in remission and that he is “alive and active”.
“My news looks like the whole news at the moment, and it’s like ‘Cancer! Cancer! Cancer!’ Which is a little tiring because as you see, I’m alive and well and I’ve been recovering for eight months, which feels really good,” the “Jurassic Park” actor Said In a video posted on Instagram. “And I’m alive and kicking and I’m going to work.”
After assuring fans he is doing well, the ‘Hunt for Red October’ actor also revealed he plans to go back to work in a week to begin production on ‘Apples Never Fall’ with Annette Bening. ‘Very happy’
Neil said he’s getting headlines focused on his diagnosis, which he discovered while promoting “Jurassic World Dominion” last year, noting that he missed out on the “main thing” that was happening in his life: Next On March 21, his memoir titled “Did I Ever Told You That?,” which the actor wrote in 2022 over the course of several months that were inextricably linked to his diagnosis.
“It mentions cancer because that’s kind of the context in which I wrote it,” Neill said. “But I didn’t really mean to write a book, I needed something to do during treatment, and I’m used to going to work and I suddenly couldn’t go to work.”
While Neill admitted that he was “pretty nervous” about its publication as a first-time author, he said there has been a “fantastic response” because “people love it.”
Neill admitted that his book was “more amusing than [he] Hopefully,” as he reflected on his recent memoir reading for the audiobook component. “I used to watch the audio engineer/producer through the glass window and it seemed like he was cracking a lot, so I take that as a good sign,” he said.
“I hope you enjoy it, and let’s not worry too much about ‘all that’ because I’m fine,” he concluded.

So here I am, and I wish the headline wasn’t ‘that thing’ so much, because the main thing I wrote this book about is ‘Did I Ever Tell You This?’. And it mentions cancer because I wrote it in a similar context. But I didn’t really mean to write a book, it was something I needed to do while I was being treated, and I’m used to going to work and I suddenly couldn’t go to work. That’s why I wrote this book, and I must say it has got a great response. People seem to like it, which is great. I was very nervous, obviously as a first time writer. Anyway, I think it’s fun. We have sub-titled it ‘Movies, Life, Love and Other Catastrophes’. So that gives you an idea of all the weird things that happened to me. The tone of the book is one of surprise. I never thought that I would have a career as an actor, leave alone an actor on screen. But it happened and I’m so grateful to look back on this life, and that’s what the book is about. I hope you enjoy it. I enjoyed reading the audiobook that day, I haven’t seen the book in a long time, but I found it more enjoyable than I expected.
