One example in particular, her boyfriend breaks up with a post-it note. To cheer her up, the girls take Carrie to a club for a night out. In true early 2000s fashion style, Samantha wears a halter top with a plunging V-neckline tied just below the bust. The halter also features a punk band and their logo as a print.

According to Reader’s DigestThe revenge dress worn by the late Princess Diana became so iconic because she wore the dress in response to her ex-husband’s admission that she was having an affair. But Samantha, betrayed by Richard, made a much bigger statement. She was wearing jeans, a leather jacket, a purple sequined shirt, and a leather purse with rhinestones. She walked around Richard’s neighborhood, throwing bright pink flyers into the air with his picture and the words “cheat” and “liar” written in capital letters.

As Samantha has proven time and time again, subtlety isn’t in her vernacular, nor is it hanging in her closet. While animal prints and furs have been popular for decades, it was royalty who made them fashionable despite indigenous peoples being the first to wear them. All the women wear fur and animal prints, but they were meant to be worn by Samantha.

Just as blue and red are basic colors in Samantha’s wardrobe, fabulous blazers and fashionable trench coats are must-haves for outerwear. She does live in New York City where coats are a necessity. But this is Samantha: she’s going to wear a bold color and a fitted cut. When a beautiful ring with diamonds is auctioned in the Sex and the city movie she wears a yellow blazer with a lightning bolt in the center over a black cocktail dress.
3/10 Flashback to the 80’s
Carrie talks about her first meeting with each of her best friends, noting how they’ve changed or stayed the same Sex and the city 2. In the 1980s, Carrie and Samantha met for the first time. Often the 80s are misrepresented as an age of neon when in fact they are the age of aerobics, big hair and acid washed jeans. In the flashback, Samantha has huge hair and a metal-studded denim jacket, all brought together by the accessory everyone had in the 1980s: a portable cassette player that hung from her hip.
