Comedian and actor Shailesh Lodha is one of the best known figures in the television industry. He rose to fame after playing the titular character Taarak Mehta in Sab TV’s popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Aside from the fact that the actor kept tight-lipped when leaving TMKOC, the actor recently made headlines after an old music video in which he subtly criticized the Kapil Sharma Show went viral on the internet.
Shailesh Lodha explains calling The Kapil Sharma Show ‘vulgar’; says: ‘People connected it to something else’
For the inexperienced, in the old clip, Lodha can be seen saying that he was “embarrassed” to watch certain vulgar shows and then described the content, which was a lot like TKSS’ characters and jokes. The actor became the target of trolls when he appeared on Kapil Sharma’s show. Building on that, he recently broke his silence in a conversation with Siddharth Kannan.
Shailesh said the story about his criticism of Kapil’s show is false. “This story is different. I never said that. I only said that there are programs on TV that are vulgar, in which a grandmother kisses people. It was about that content. There are many such shows. I felt there is a better way to do comedy. It was never about a show. People connected it with something else. Kapil and I have been on stage together,” he claimed.
Lodha further explained, saying: “There was no such thing. I was talking about the vulgarity in TV shows that is starting to emerge now. I was talking about that. I wasn’t talking about anyone personally. I never do that. Kapil is a very good artist and a friend. It wasn’t about him at all.”
Not only this, but Shailesh also opened up about his decision to leave TMKOC after being a part of the show for the past 14 years. He said he is waiting for the right moment to reveal the reason for his departure from the sitcom.
