As soon as the announcement was made, netizens became nostalgic and flooded the social media platform with their response. Since then, part of Shaktimaan has been eagerly awaiting the film to go into production and hit the big screen.

The team still needs to check things and get on board before moving on in the process. And now we have news for all Shaktimaan fans. The team is in talks with Minnal Muralic fame, Basil Joseph, to come on board as director of Shaktimaan. Yes! You read it right.
If a Pinkvilla report is anything then, the team has approved Basil Joseph to put on the director’s hat. The report quoted a source as saying, “Basil is well-versed in the world of Indian superhero movies and is a big fan of Shaktimaan himself. The director has already met the Shaktimaan team several times and is eager to get on board with the film. The producers have asked Basil to come up with his own version of the screenplay to see if he’s on the same page as the team on a visual and narrative front.”
Continuing on the same, the report stated that the paperwork and other aspects will be done once the first version is locked to the quality desired by the team.
“Shaktimaan is a franchise that has the potential to change the game for Hindi Cinema and so the team is very careful with the choice of director. Mukesh Khanna has made the character a household name and the idea is to reintroduce the superhero to today’s audience. They have spoken to several top executives and as of now Basil Joseph is the frontrunner to be at the helm as all meetings have received positive response,” the report added.
Finally, the report also provided an update on the casting and speculation that Ranveer Singh is at the top of the list. It claimed, “He will hear the script, get a sense of the vision producers and directors have for the franchise, and only then play the superhero. It’s also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him to become a superhero on the screen and that’s why he’s careful about what he picks up.”
