She-Hulk Creator Regrets One Character Not In Series Finale

Jessica Gao revealed that despite She-Hulk’s run ending with several major cameos, there’s one person missing that she regrets not including.

The final of She-Hulk: Lawyer provided some cameos, and even brought Wong one more time for good measure, but there is one person who is the creator Jessica Gao does not regret it at the close of the show. Throughout the nine-episode run, there was one character that immediately caught the attention of the audience and that was a certain merry party girl named Madisynn, played by the endearing Patty Guggenheim, and her absence from the finale was the only one that may have added to the already stacked lineup could have been added.

She-Hulk’s final episode ended what was an enjoyable series for those who didn’t get into it and expected the usual Marvel fare. While there have been plenty of cameos, Easter eggs, plagues for the future, and some epic battles, She-Hulk had an ulterior motive, which was to go against some Marvel trends. While that didn’t end with an epic finale showdown, the final episode of She-Hulk’s run delivered the kind of meta humor her comics are known for, as well as a slew of cameos, but Gao confessed to being disappointed that Madisynn wasn’t part of it. She said Variety:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“[Marvel Studios President] Kevin [Feige] was very specific about Skaar so I’m sure there is a plan in the future, although I have no idea what that could be. We all knew Daredevil had to come back because people love him and their chemistry is so great. I only wish Patty Guggenheim had come back as Madisynn in the final. That is my great regret.”

She-Hulk has set up some Marvel plagues for the future

Over the course of the series, She-Hulk: Lawyer threw in a lot of blink-and-you-miss-it teases for many Marvel projects of the future, including mention in the passing of Wolverine. For the finale, the final role featured many more such moments, such as the arrival of Skaar, more Daredevil, and in the post-credits scene, Wong Emil Blonsky once again broke out of his prison to take him to Kamar-Taj. All this, and the sheer number of minor Marvel characters that appeared during the series, gave She-Hulk the feeling that the team had been given the keys to the toy box and told them to go have some fun.

Whatever complaints have been made about She-Hulk, the series has constantly resounded against social media’s often venomous comments about not just Marvel, but shows and movies in general. The ability for Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters to address viewers directly is certainly something that has helped the show get its message across. Or we will see She-Hulk return in a second season still seems to be up in the air, with both Gao and Maslany refusing to pay too much attention to whether another season has been discussed. But as a break with the norm, She-Hulk has been a breath of fresh air and another one of Marvel’s experimental Disney+ shows that has continued to take the MCU in different directions.
