Sigourney Weaver Shares Excitement Over Selena Gomez’s Working Girl Reboot

As nostalgia continues to reign in 2022, another 80s movie reboot is on the way. This summer it was reported that Selena Gomez was on board to produce a reboot of the 1988 hit comedy working girl. Sigourney Weaverone of the stars of the original film, weighed in on the upcoming production during Elle’s Women in Hollywood event. The actress told The Hollywood Reporter:

“Go for it. I think it’s a great instinct to want to do that again. It’s kind of an eternal story, you know. But seen in the new light, it’s especially interesting to think that Katharine is cheating on her assistant in today’s world. It would be worse, wouldn’t it? It would really suck. So I don’t know, I’m very excited to see it.”

The original film followed Tess McGill (Melanie Griffith), a smart and ambitious woman who is mistreated by her stockbroker boss. After quitting her job, Tess lands a job as an assistant to Katharine Parker (Weaver). After Katharine’s true nature is revealed, Tess takes over her identity in an effort to advance her professional career. The film also starred Harrison Ford and was directed by Mike Nichols.
