‘SNL’ audio goes out of sync during cold open and part of Steve Martin and Martin Short’s monologue (VIDEO)

“SNL” fans were pulling their hair out during Saturday’s episode after a technical glitch caused the audio to be completely out of sync during part of the cold open sketch and host Steve Martin and Martin Short’s monologue.

Luckily the issue was settled about a minute into the monologue, freeing fans to enjoy what turned out to be a delightful routine by Short and Martin. And yes, his “Only Murders in the Building” costar Selena Gomez made a cameo appearance at the end. Watch it above now.

And in case you’re wondering, it wasn’t just you and your TV. While the full extent of the problem is not known, fans took to social media to complain about it, confirming the problem has affected viewers across the country. Here’s a sample of what it looked and sounded like:

The monologue begins with Martin talking about the many times he hosted “Saturday Night Live” with a photo montage of his previous appearances. The short then showed a montage of hosted times – sadly, none.

The monologue then devolved into some of the couple’s trademark absurdist humour, as the stage was lit by Christmas decorations, they proceeded to roast each other with mock funerals, which got progressively wackier and meaner. And, to be clear, hilarious. We are talking about Steve Martin and Martin Short.

But fans were still troubled by the issue, which for some users continued well into the show.
