In the cold open for the latest “SNL,” the long-running NBC show basically channels how we’re feeling when it portrays the “first warm day of the year,” as an event that Basically brings out every lunatic in New York.

In the clip, Bowen Yang and Heidi Gardner play reporters talking to people in the park and treat the whole thing like an awards show red carpet. And if we’re being honest, yeah, it feels the same way IRL.
Or as the gardener’s character sets the scene, “It’s mid-April here in New York City, and temperatures hit 90 degrees this week, which is a full two months ahead of schedule. But as awesome as it may be, the warm weather can only mean one thing. Whimsical and weird people are heading to Central Park and we’re expecting to see some iconic park people today.
Yang’s reporter added, “The mood here is electric. The smell of halal food and horse manure in the air, as I see it. Yes. I think it’s a perfect symbol of that park. This old man Which is demonstrating an aggressive force.
The older man, played by Mickey Day, explained his outfit as follows: “The tightest spandex shirt I’ve ever worn. Uh, short shorts and a weird heart rate monitor strapped to my arm. Iconic.”
Next time, Gardner’s reporter was “starstruck this time as I am engaged to not one but two perverts who have come to the park to amuse themselves.”
The contortionists then continued to explain their new techniques, which included a fake arm. (Total.)
Then one woman started learning to rollerblade because, as she said, “What better place than a crowded street filled with thousands of people?”
After that, it was two “park employees who didn’t care about their jobs.” Of course the sketch soared through more than this, and it was all pretty hilarious. For example, “a grown man with a drone who’s lonely and won’t film you girls,” and some legitimately crazy guys.
We particularly enjoyed “It’s the rich lady and baby,” who explained “And I have to ask, what’s the plan today?” Well, here I am taking Riley down to the playground of “If I take my eyes off her for even a second, I immediately panic.”
Overall, it was a nice break from the usual politically charged cold open gags and a nice way to start off the warm season. As we said, you can watch it above.
