Colin Jost and Michael Che picked up the latest headlines Saturday night live‘s weekend update addressing the controversy surrounding Kanye West’s White Lives Matter shirt The little mermaid.
West caused a stir this week when he wore a T-shirt with the slogan “White Lives Matter,” a version of the Black Lives Matter movement created to raise awareness of police brutality. Che lightened the rapper’s appearance on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson show “to defend that he’s wearing a White Lives Matter shirt and claims he wore the shirt because he used gut instinct.”
“But what he’s definitely not using is the meds that he’s been prescribed,” Che joked, with the joke totally resonating with the studio audience.

Later in the segment, Jost introduced “Black Ariel” from Disney’s new live-action adaptation of The little mermaid.
Ego Nwodim showed up at the update desk wearing the iconic purple bra and green fishtail and asked Jost to just call her Ariel, noting, “I’m not calling you white Colin.”
Jost went on to ask Nwodim’s Ariel how it felt to be called a hero and a role model for young girls.

“Role model for whom? Black girls who wanna be a Pisces?” Arielle said. “I have to be honest Colin, it’s a lot of pressure. People are all like, ‘Oh Ariel, you’re perfect. You’re the hero we need.” B***h, I’m normal.”
Ariel joked that she didn’t ask for any of it, adding, “My mom got drunk and had sex with a tuna and now here I am.”
Ariel has done the most to show her negative traits and go against any positive projections people have of her by calling herself stupid and saying she is “Pro-Sea World”. The little mermaid Star also said she was the culprit of the BP oil spill.
