Some fans just realized that Mrs. Thornhill Star played Wednesday 30 years ago

Despite seemingly being well-reported, some fans are only now realizing that Christina Ricci will appear as Mrs. Thornhill on Wednesday.

It seems that no secret has been made about it Christina Ricki‘s roles as Miss Thornhill in Netflix’s Wednesday. Despite this, there seem to be a lot of people who are only now realizing that the Nevermore Academy teacher previously played Wednesday’s role in 1991’s The Addams family and its 1993 sequel. The 1990s films have become one of the family’s most popular on-screen iterations, and the cast, including Ricci, became synonymous with the characters. That has naturally led to many comparisons between the films and the new series from Netflix.

Wednesday is a whole new take on it The Addams family, and one that has certainly struck a chord with fans. The show puts the Addams’ daughter at the center of the story, a dark and tortuous mystery involving monsters, murder and family secrets. This had given the series a vastly better Rotten Tomatoes score than that of all Addams Family releases except the original 1960s TV show.

Jenna Ortega didn’t want advice from Christina Ricci

While it may seem like it’s not wise for some actors to ask a predecessor how to play a character, Jenna Ortega didn’t want to end up repeating Ricci’s version from Wednesday. It seems that turned out for the best, as her performance in the title role was highly praised, even by those who didn’t fully understand the show. Ortega previously noted that she focused on her own portrayal of the iconic character, saying:

“I think when she was on set neither of us said Wednesday to each other twice. I think because she knew she shouldn’t say anything to me…I don’t think she wanted to get in the way of my performance and feeling like she was being overbearing And I felt like I didn’t want to pull off something that she did 30 years ago First, for my own benefit’s sake, but two, yeah, I didn’t want to rip her off, and I didn’t want to too much like her. I think our show has superpowers, and outcasts, and evil ghost pilgrims. They’re two very different people, our Wednesdays, I think.”

Wednesday has delivered everything it promised and more for most fans, and that means there are high hopes for a second season to be greenlit soon. With the series’ showrunners also hinting at potential spin-offs being discussed, this could be the start of a whole new Addams Family universe. For now, the entire first season of Wednesday will be streamed in its entirety on Netflix.
