Straight Man Images Reveal First Look at Bob Odenkirk in New AMC Series

The popular AMC drama You better call Saul recently wrapped up its run after six seasons, but main star Bob Odenkirk stays with the AMC. Actor’s headlines honest man, an upcoming drama series on the network. Although AMC previously announced the show was in the works, so far we’ve gotten a glimpse of Odenkirk along with some of his co-stars. On Wednesday, AMC released some first photos for: honest man along with some other new shows, and you can check out the full gallery below.


honest man also stars Mirielle Enos and Olivia Scott Welch as the wife and daughter of Odenkirk’s Hank Devereaux, respectively. They can also be seen in the images of the first look. The show also features Diedrich Bader, Sara Amini, Cedric Yarbrough and Suzanne Cryer.

An official description of honest man from AMC reads:

honest man is a midlife crisis story set at Railton College, told in the first person by William Henry “Hank” Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), the unlikely chair of the English department at a badly underfunded university in Pennsylvania’s rust belt.

Created for AMC by Aaron Zelman and Paul Lieberstein, the series is based on the novel of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo. Zelman and Lieberstein also serve as showrunners. Odenkirk will executive produce with series director Peter Farrelly, as well as Mark Johnson, Richard Russo, Naomi Odenkirk and Marc Provissiero. Sony Pictures’ Television TriStar TV will produce.

AMC didn’t let go of Bob Odenkirk

“Bob Odenkirk is as good as it gets,” Dan McDermott, president of Entertainment AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said when the series was announced. “We feel so lucky to develop a new show that would keep him at the AMC after that You better call Saul and Breaking Bad, two iconic series loved by millions of fans that helped define AMC and its reputation for unforgettable characters and high-quality adult stories. We’re also excited to be working again with our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Mark Johnson’s Gran Via to explore this compelling material.”

In his own statement in which he honest manOdenkirk added: “I loved Paul and Aaron’s take on Richard’s excellent, entertaining novel. Another project with AMC with a focus on character depth and sensitivity. This milieu (academia) seems very relevant to the conversations we all have. I’m drawn to the tone of humanity and humor in the novel and I’m looking forward to playing this part – slightly lighter than my recent projects, but still closely monitored and smart.”

honest man hasn’t set a release date yet AMC but is expected to arrive in 2023. Meanwhile, Odenkirk fans have several other projects to look forward to. He will team up with David Cross, his Mr Show partner, for the comedy series Guru Nation. It was also recently announced that he will be co-writing and co-starring in the upcoming comedy movie Making Jesus Diabates.
