“‘Survivor’ lands on Telefe in Argentinian version – Deadline”

EXCLUSIVE: survivor remains a mainstay at CBS and returns to the BBC this year, and now distributor Banijay Rights has struck a deal to send the adventure reality format back to Argentina.

Paramount-owned local network Telefe will produce a new version titled Survivor, Expedition Robinson. The order comes 22 years after the show’s first performance in the country.

“We are very pleased to present the global TV phenomenon survivor to Argentina,” said Guillermo Pendino, vice president of content and programming at Telefe & Chilevisión. “This format has been exciting to produce and audiences here are going to love it.”

survivor turned 25 last year, making it one of the oldest reality TV formats still selling well in the market. Created by Charlie Parsons, the show has a total of more than 50 versions and 360 seasons around the world, with CBS running its 44th season.

Notably, it is returning to the UK, where Remarkable Entertainment, owned by Banijay, is producing a version for the BBC. In Latin America, the show returns after 15 years on RCN in Colombia, and a French-Canadian version for Noovo launched this spring.

survivor takes competitions to remote locations, splitting them into two tribes and letting them compete for immunity and other benefits through daily challenges. The ultimate winner goes home with a title and a prize.

The Telefe agreement was negotiated by Michelle Wasserman, SVP of Latin America, US Hispanic and Brazil for Banijay Rights, who said, “By combining adventure, strategy and real-world danger, Survivor continues to be one of the most prestigious formats in the world.” We We are delighted to finalize this deal with our partners at Telefe and bring this amazing show to Argentinian viewers.”

For Banijay, the news comes a day after it was announced that tech veteran Damien Viel has joined as chief digital and marketing officer. Late last year, he ended his seven-year tenure as CEO of Twitter.
