The CBS reality competition series “Survivor” returned with its 43rd season, blazing its way to earn the single best demo score of the night across all major broadcast networks—an advertiser-friendly 18 in its two-hour season premiere. 0.79 in the -49 age range according to Nielsen data.
On NBC, even the popular “Chicago: Fire” demo couldn’t match the score, but it took home total viewership, netting 6.7 million viewers for the night in the 9 p.m. time slot. Season 11 premiere.
In fact, all Dick Wolf produced by the show “One Chicago” were ratings winners on Wednesday. “Made”, which debuted at 8 p.m., was second with 6.5 million viewers and 0.70 in the demo with Yaya DaCosta, as the show’s Season 1 alum, Dr. April came back to make a guest appearance as Sexton. ,
“Fire” had the third highest demo score – 0.69, while “Chicago” was the highest on show, “PD” taking home 0.67 and was viewed by 5.4 million viewers at 10 p.m.
“Survivor” took fourth place in viewership—nearly 5 million, up to its highest-ever demo score of the night.
From there things spread further. Fox’s “The Masked Singer” took fifth place in the demo with 0.63 and sixth in total viewership with 3.7 million viewers, as two veterans were dropped on its premiere night (spoiler alert: You can read his exit interview here and here).
ABC’s Amy darling “Abbott Elementary”, which won a writing Emmy for producer and star Quinta Brunson and Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy for Sheryl Lee Ralph, was sixth in the demo with a 0.57 rating, but eighth in viewership, Including 2.9 million viewers.
“The Conners”, which debuted on ABC’s Comedy Night premiere at 8 p.m., ranked fifth with an audience rating of 3.73 million and a demo score of 0.53 (the seventh-highest of the night).
The return of “The Amazing Race” on CBS, which debuted at an international location – Munich, Germany – was seventh with 3.02 million total viewers and eighth with 0.46 p.m. in the demo.
“The Goldbergs” season 10 premiered on ABC, where it was eventually announced at the show that family patriarch Murray had died, ninth in the demo with 0.44 and 2.5 million in viewers.
ABC’s “Home Economics” premiered with a demo score of 0.38—the 10th highest score of the night, and 11th with 2.1 million in viewers.
On Fox they landed 11th place in the popular 18–49 demo of “Lego Masters”, with 0.36, followed by “Big Sky”, which airs at 10 p.m. with 0.26. ABC’s “Big Sky” took 10th place in viewership, while The Lego Building Show took 12th place with 2.26 million and 1.468 million viewers, respectively.
A new episode of “DC’s Stargirl” on The CW grossed 0.06 in demo and was viewed by approximately 387,000 viewers.
The overnight average gave NBC a slight lead in the demo from 0.69 to CBS’s 0.68—in the overall nightly score, which also saw them earn an average of 6.3 million for CBS’s 4.6 million viewers. Fox’s demos averaged 0.5 and 2.6 million total viewers, while ABC’s averaged 0.41 and 2.6 million viewers. The CW averaged 0.06 and earned a score of 355,000. Fox doesn’t do 10 p.m. shows.
