Take a closer look at Namor in this Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Mimi

Phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was packed with introductions as audiences saw characters like Shang-Chi, The Eternals, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and surprisingly Man-Thing have been seen entering the MCU. utilities, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will continue the trend as fans finally get the live-action interpretation of Namor the Sub-Mariner.

The character is one of the oldest comic book heroes in the Marvel catalog, first appearing in 1939. Namor’s introduction is long overdue, but fans won’t have to wait much longer to see Tenoch Huerta’s portrayal of the character. Namor was the subject of the latest featurette released from Marvel Entertainment, including a look at the underwater kingdom of Talocan. “The introduction of Namor was really an opportunity to envision another sovereign ruler of a group of people,” explains director Ryan Coogler in the video. “He appears as a representative of Talocan.”

Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in the MCU, alludes to the eventual showdown between the nation of Wakanda and Talocan. “I can’t wait for everyone to see Talocan,” Wright said. “I’m excited about how we will see the world come to life. Both countries want the same thing, which is to preserve and protect their people. But they are willing to go about it in different ways.”

Fans can watch the relationship between Huerta’s Namor and the Wakandan people unfold when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters exclusively later this month and premieres on November 11.

Tenoch Huerta says he is proud of his character

Namor and his backstory undergo a slight change in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Originally, Namor came from the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, but that won’t be the case in the upcoming movie. Probably because of DC and Aquaman’s connection to Atlantis, Marvel chose to take a different path and connect the character to Mesoamerican culture and Tlālōcān, a paradise in Aztec mythology.

Huerta, who is from Ecatepec de Morelos, Mexico, appreciates the change in the backstory and says he is proud to represent Namor on the big screen.

“Namor loves his people, and he will protect them, because to be a ruler you have to serve the people. Talocan has great meaning to me, it is part of my personal heritage as a Mexican, as a resident of Mesoamerica. Finally, I could find a more powerful representation of my culture with dignity and respect.”

Given the importance of his character in the comics, Namor could undoubtedly be a big part of the MCU in the future. However, fans will know more on November 11 when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever comes to the cinema.
