Tatiana Maslany doesn’t count on She-Hulk getting a second season: ‘It doesn’t seem likely’

SPOILER ALERT: This story contains some spoilers for the finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

While the first season certainly went off with a bang, don’t gamble on the farm She-Hulk: Lawyer is being renewed for season 2. While some fans of the series may be wondering if there’s more to come after that wild season finale where a lot of people are talking, main star Tatiana Maslany is not so sure that a renewal will take place. As told to Additional after the episode premiered, Maslany senses that the Kevin Feige-inspired robot in the… She-Hulk finale suggests there is no future for the series.

“I mean, I don’t think so yet. Kevin in the scene seems to be very dismissive of this idea, so if we base this on the real Kevin, it doesn’t seem likely. But he was also, I think, I was just trying from Jen because she was asking too many questions… I don’t know. If I could hold back and have a little secret, I would. I don’t. I don’t know anything.”

In the episode, Maslany’s Jennifer Walters breaks through the fourth wall and goes as far as the… She-Hulk: Lawyer writers room. She demands to talk to “Kevin”, hinting at an appearance from Kevin Feige, after which it is revealed that he is a robot who wants Jennifer to go back to her human form because her VFX makes it too expensive. While she can’t answer for Feige, Maslany was immediately asked if she wanted to do another season of the series, and she had this to say.

The finale targeted She-Hulk .’s critics

She-Hulk: Lawyer has not been without criticism, and there has been some heat aimed at the series from people on social media. This directly inspired the grand finale scene with the robot and She-Hulk. The idea was to respond to the social media trolls in a fun way. As writer Jessica Gao recently explained in a recent interview with Variety:

“That conversation between Jen and KEVIN is very much the relationship I have with real Kevin and a lot of it is taken from conversations I’ve had with him. That scene was so much longer in the scripts. If they’d let me in, I probably would have written a 10-minute conversation where my avatar argued with Kevin. This is probably the tightest version of what it could have been. There were a few jabs where Kevin thought, “Okay, now this is a little mean.” Our writer’s room opened three years ago. The fact that we could predict what the reaction would be, what a lot of the trolling comments would be, really shows how very tired and unoriginal these trolls are. That really tickled me because the little troll that lives inside me really likes to troll the trolls.”
