Television Academy elects 16 new members to the Board of Governors

The Television Academy on Friday announced the 16 members elected to its Board of Governors for the 2023–’24 term.

Additionally, 12 governors are returning for a second term, while two elected governors are returning members to the board after several years of absence.

The announcement indicates that more than half of the Academy’s 30-member Board of Governors is new to the boardroom and represents diverse talent and a variety of professions across the industry.

According to a Friday release, the 16 newly elected governors who will serve their first term are: Bobby Banks (sound editors), Eric Becker (lighting, camera and technical arts); Mary Lou Bailey (Director); Hillary Bibikoff (Professional Representative); Patrick Cady, ASC (Cinematographer); Lamb Chamberlin (animation); Megan Chao (documentary programming); Tessandra Chavez (choreography); Yvette Corubeaus (advertising); David Hartl (Production Officer); Christina Lee (PR); Robert M. Malakowski Jr., ACE (picture editor); Lynne Rainey Maxcy (writer); Eddie Perez (stunts); Gloria Ponce (children’s programming); and Kimberly Vannop (Art Director/Set Decorator).

The 12 governors-elect who were re-elected are: Wendy Aylesworth (Science and Technology); Nikki Carbonetta (makeup artist/hairstylist); Tony Carey (Producer); Jill Dickerson (reality programming); Joe DeSante (television executive); Joe Earl, CAS (sound); Christy Lynn Lugo Leigh (Los Angeles area); Luke Reichle (costume design and supervision); Jeff Russo (music); Derek Spears (special visual effects); Kim Taylor-Coleman, CSA (Casting Directors); and Steve Viola (motion and title design).

And two returning after several years’ absence from the boardroom are Eva Basler (daytime programming) and Kate Linder (performer).
