The theatrical trailer of the big Diwali release, thank God, was released about 1 month ago, in September 2022. While the trailer got a thumbs-up from some of the viewers, it also ran into a bit of trouble. Certain elements accused the film of hurting religious feelings, most notably Ajay Devgn’s character, who can be seen in the film as Chitragupta.

Bollywood Hungama has been informed that the makers have limited the damage so that thank God has no issues during or after the film’s release. A source told Bollywood Hungama“A new trailer of thank God was released last week by the creators. It shows that Ajay Devgn plays a character called CG. The makers thought it wise not to address him as Chitragupta. Therefore, they decided to use the initials CG. All dialogues where the word Chitragupta was mentioned was replaced with CG.
Meanwhile, the makers of thank God received support from the Supreme Court. The Shri Chitragupta Welfare Trust had asked for the release of the film to be postponed. But the Supreme Court declined to list his plea.
On the other hand, thank God is certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film has been awarded a U/A certificate with three adaptations. First, a shot with visuals of offering a candy to Lord Hanuman’s idol was replaced with a backshot angle. Second, the name of the drink brand was blurred and finally the disclaimer was modified and the length was increased to give moviegoers enough time to read it.
After these changes were made, thank God received the censorship certificate on October 20. The filming time, as stated on the certificate, is 121 minutes, ie 2 hours and 1 minute.
In addition to Ajay Devgn, thank God also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh. Directed by Indra Kumar, it will be released on October 25.
