College halls, bloodstained walls and dismembered entrails are promised in Prime Video’s upcoming “Gen V,” the university-set spinoff for “The Boys,” which just got its first teaser. In the minute-long clip, which you can watch above, viewers can join in on all the same debauchery and gorging as its predecessor, including manager Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) and A-Train (Jesse T. Asher).
The teaser premiered at CCXP in São Paulo, the world’s largest comic convention. “Gen V” follows students at the first American college exclusively for young adult superheroes (run by Watt International). The show, which is set to premiere in 2023, explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supers as they test their physical, sexual and moral limits while competing for the school’s top ranking.
The teaser primarily follows Sinclair’s character, featuring young Supe’s visceral power of spitting bloody entrails out of his hands (as well as a Muppet-like doll filled with the same lifelike guts). In several clips, viewers get a glimpse of a college filled with VAT-controlled propaganda, complete with a “school of crimefighting”, most notably a golden statue of the murderous Homelander (Antony Starr), A-Train and a damaged door advertising a vending machine with the word “murderer” written over it.
“I’m superhuman, aren’t I? We’re made of steel,” the character replies when asked how she uses her courage.
The series cast includes Jazz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Liz Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa German, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigosi. The preview also featured guest appearances from cast members Clancy Brown, Alexander Calvert and Jason Ritter, as well as Usher, Minifie and PJ Byrne, reprising their roles from The Boys.
Michelle Fazekas and Tara Butters serve as showrunners and executive producers. “The Boys” EP Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neil H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levine, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Craig Rosenberg, Zak Schwartz and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers on the spinoff show with Erika Rossbay. Brent Engelstein is serving as co-executive producer.
The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television Studios and Amazon Studios in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Gray Pictures and Original Film. Lorelei Alanis serves as the executive in charge for Point Gray Pictures.
