Before the premiere of Black Adamstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson looks ahead to see who else he could meet his antihero with in the DCEU. Lately, Johnson has been teasing an eventual encounter between Henry Cavill’s Black Adam and Superman, but this isn’t the only character The Rock hopes to see. He is also looking for Kevin Hart to join him in the DCEU as a superhero or supervillain.
In the past, Johnson has joked about fighting Hart as Honky Pete in a movie. However, with all jokes aside, as Johnson tells Entertainment tonight, he thinks Hart should be given a place in the DCEU. While he doesn’t name specific characters, The Rock even says he has some roles in mind that Hart could play. Johnson also mentions Idris Elba as someone he hopes to collaborate with in a DCEU movie.
“That’s a great question. You know, I’m always laughing and joking about Kevin Hart (as) Black Adam and Honky Pete, and stuff like that. But there’s room for Kevin. There’s a few characters that we’re in thoughts I think there is a place for Idris Elba who is also my boy coz he could be a tough superhero There are also super villains But when you open that DC bible dude there are so many cool and exciting characters to play.”
It’s worth noting that Elba has already ventured into the DCEU as Bloodsport in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad last year. Like Johnson, Elba has also plagued his character with a fight with Superman one day. That said, it’s always possible for Elba’s Bloodsport to meet Black Adam as well, unless he’s brought in to play a new character. After all, the multiverse makes everything possible.
The Rock Says It’s Time For New Blood In The DCEU
The Rock went on to explain how, along with his production company Seven Bucks Productions, he has more access to “DC Bible” characters than before. He suggests that the door is now open for them to dig deep into that world to bring “new blood” into the DCEU.
“And I’m just glad that, at Seven Bucks, we’ve now come to a place where we can go now. We’ve got the key. Open that door and let’s go for it now. Respect to the Justice League and the IP, and the legacy that those characters – Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman – the legacy they have, but it’s time for new blood. It’s time for new characters. It’s time to open that bible and time to to give to the fans.”
Before that, we’ll first see Johnson being introduced as Black Adam in the new movie Black Adam debuts in cinemas on October 21, 2022. The character’s future in the DCEU remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Dwayne Johnson is very optimistic about what’s next.
