In response to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) since removed Tweets of pro-Russian rhetoric amid President Vladimir Putin’s annexation of four Ukrainian territories, “Morning Joe” on Monday slammed the conservative political organization for making such a “huge mistake” in the first place.

Referring to the annexed territories as “Ukrainian-occupied” implies that the rightful claim to the land belongs to Russia, a stance that has been widely condemned by the US. CPAC’s tweet also featured an image of a Russian flag and announced that the attachment in another image was “official” listing the regions.
CPAC deleted its Friday tweet three hours later and eventually posted a second statement on Saturday.
“Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine must be repulsed,” CPAC tweeted, “Putin is a madman who is risking the lives of millions with his loose talk of nuclear war. We should oppose Putin, but not bear the bulk of the cost to American taxpayers.”
Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander James Stavaridis, who was a “Morning Joe” guest on Monday, was particularly disappointed by the message.
“It is a great mistake for anyone to bow down against freedom, democracy, courage and stamina” [and] The true patience of the Ukrainians, ”said Stavridis. “It is remarkable to see what they have achieved when the odds were stacked against them at the start of this struggle eight months ago.
