Tom Hanks reprises one of his most iconic characters on this week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live”: David Pumpkins.
The two-time Oscar-winning cast member played Pumpkin for the first time—a buzzy, “creepy” character wearing a pumpkin-covered jacket—when he hosted a 2016 episode of “SNL.”
The sketch was an instant hit (the Youtube video Over 23 million views and NBC ordered a half-hour David S. Hanks previously appeared on Saturday’s episode of “SNL” pitching a Pixar film in a sketch about a man from an Alcoholics Anonymous group, and surprise cameo During the Weekend Update by former “SNL” cast member Bobby Moynihan as his beloved character Drunk Uncle, but confirmed we’ll be getting a David Pumpkin sketch later in the night.
He came up with another haunted elevator sketch, in which Hanks’ David Pumpkin is once again posed by Mickey Day and Moynihan as his kooky skeleton. The sketch played out a lot like the original, with guests riding the “Haunted Elevator” constantly puzzled as to the whole deal of pumpkins.
