Urban legend comes to life in Eli Roth’s new anthology series (VIDEO)

Between conspiracy theories and rumours, it’s no surprise that urban legends are more powerful than ever — and horror master Eli Roth is thoroughly exploring this phenomenon in his new series, “Urban Legend,” which The premiere takes place on the Travel Channel and begins streaming on Discovery+. 28 October.

Based on the widely shared “true” stories that happened to a friend of a friend’s friend, each of the eight episodes is a mini-horror film, filled with secret psychopaths, murderous mysteries, creepy creatures, and of course Completes with more jumps. Your veins might take over. And in Roth’s Nightmare Anthology series, he showcases these modern folktales like you’ve never seen before. “We said, ‘Let’s just make the story the scariest, most compelling version of that story,'” Roth told TheWrap. Which among the thousands of urban legends has his criteria to choose from? “That would sound crazy, but simply, it’s possible that it could happen,” he said.

From the story of a scuba diver who ends up in a tree to a room for the curse of a white prom dress, where a woman brings to life scenes of torture and execution for tyrannical patrons, “Urban Legend” darkens each Tells like the darkest of fairy tales.

And with that in mind, Roth and the writers and directors of each episode took some liberties with each legend… to create them. More Real. “The Harvest,” for example, is the story of a man whose kidney was stolen and wakes up in a bathtub filled with ice with a stitched part. Director Jason LaPierre wanted his tub filled with ice.

“He goes, ‘That’s not right. This is the organ that’s on ice. You put someone in a bathtub full of ice, why would they do that? They steal your limb and they’re quite polite’ [sew you up], No,'” Roth said of Lapayer. “He goes, ‘If you were left in a bathtub full of ice you would die of hypothermia. You would be dead in 30 minutes. This is the organ that has to be on ice.'”
