Val Chmerkovsky tested COVID positive. Miss ‘DWTS’ after trial

“Dancing With the Stars” supporter Val Chmerkovskiy will miss Monday night’s Halloween episode, sharing Friday that he has COVID.

“I’ve got some bad news, unfortunately I tested positive for COVID and won’t be able to perform this Monday,” Chmerkovskiy said in a video posted on instagram, “But the good thing is that Gabby [Windey] tested negative so we’re still in [the competition]He also noted in the comments that his pregnant wife, Jenna Johnson, has also tested negative.

Alan Burston, who was kicked out last week with partner Jesse James Decker, will be stepping in for Val’s for a Halloween-themed Argentine tango.

“It’s a huge bummer. I was really looking forward to this week’s routine,” Chmerkovskiy said. “But the good thing is that Gabby knows it, Gabby is ready and Alan is going to do a great job and you guys are going to vote for us, so I’ll be back next week.”

He thanked fans for their support, saying, “I feel good, I’ll be back. It’s a small nod to a big comeback, and thank you.” Val and Gabby were the first couple to achieve perfect scores this season.

Windy replied to his post saying, “We will miss you!! I just want Jenna to be safe and you feel better!” The pair ended last week in a tie for second place on the leaderboard with Hedy D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev.

Earlier in the season, Joseph Baena’s partner Daniela Karagach tested positive for COVID and missed out on both Elvis Knight and Bond Knight in the Disney+ reality competition.

Seven other pairs remain in the competition at the moment. In the leaderboard order, they are Charlie D’Amelio and Mark Ballas, Shangela and Gleb Savchenko, Wayne Brady and Witney Carson, Jordin Sparks and Brandon Armstrong, Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart, Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater, and Vinnie Guadagnino and Coco Iwasaki.
