Fans have been waiting a long time for Rick Grimes to return to the Walking Dead, and it looks like there’s still a little bit of waiting to be done.
At a given moment The living Deads Rick Grimes movies have been one of the franchise’s most anticipated upcoming offerings. Then they didn’t materialize, and over time fans drifted away from the series hoping to actually get a conclusion to Rick’s story. However, this year brought the surprise revelation that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick will get his Walking dead spin-off series and will be joined by Danai Gurira’s Michonne. Now Gurira has given fans a clearer idea of when they’ll get to see the show on AMC.
After waiting so long, it looks like the show won’t be out until late 2023. During an interview for the 20 questions: on deadline podcast, the actress explained that fans could expect the premiere episode around Halloween. She said:
“I think it is the end of 2023. I think it’s somewhere in that region. Halloween, there, after that. Somewhere out there. That’s the goal.”
Although there was no official confirmation of which order was the forthcoming one Walking dead spin-offs would air, Gurira’s statement coincided with what the production schedules seemed to suggest. After waiting so long to see where Rick ended up and what will become of him, another year won’t make much of a difference to those who still have an interest in the series.
The Walking Dead spinoffs will dominate AMC’s 2023 schedule
Despite the flagship series ending last month, 2023 will make sense The living Dead is alive and kicking. Along with new seasons of existing spin-off shows, Fear the walking dead and Stories of the walking deadcomes a total of three new series, each focusing on one or two central characters from the main show.
The first will be Dead city, a Negan and Maggie-focused show that takes the characters to the heart of a zombie-infested New York, where they will encounter new threats from both the living and the dead. The first teaser trailer for the show promised a dark story for the two popular characters, and where their journey will lead them, or why they’re there, has yet to be revealed.
After that, Norman Reedus will reprise his role in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Reedus’ character was last seen driving off at the end of The Walking Dead finale. It is known from previous reports that his journey will take him to Europe where his story is believed to intersect with the finale of the previous spin-off, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. There’s a strong belief that this could align with finding a way to end the zombie apocalypse, but the exact details have yet to be revealed.
Of Rick & Michonne shooting will begin in January, but obviously it will be next year’s wrap up Walking dead chapter. Whether it will also be part of the start of a new one remains to be seen, but Walking Dead universe chief content officer Scott Gimple has dropped plenty of hints that more could come out The living Dead the coming years.
