And what a year it’s been for Cameron. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this week, she received an RIAA platinum certification for “Boyfriend,” honoring the song’s millionth purchase.

“[‘Boyfriend’] was such a big part of me finding my own identity and embracing my homosexuality,” Cameron told Clarkson. “And it makes me emotional every time I talk about it, but it was such a key for me to completely go into myself, in a way that I never knew if I was going to have the privilege to find these pieces of myself.”

Cameron recently followed up “Boyfriend” with “Bad Idea,” the second single from his upcoming (and highly anticipated) debut studio album.

Of course, Cameron’s musical chops were never in question. Before focusing on her solo career, she lent her voice to countless television projects, from Disney Channel descent franchise at NBC Hair spray live!
