Watch Taylor Schilling and Connie Britton in the ‘Dear Edward’ trailer

Taylor Schilling and Connie Britton are teaming up for a new series on Apple TV+ from the creators of “Parenthood” and “Friday Night Lights”: “Dear Edward.”

An Apple release declared that it was a “heartwarming, life-affirming, and uplifting story about survival, resilience, connection, and the examination of what makes us human,” by “Dear Edward” Ann An adaptation of the bestselling novel. Napolitano. It is written by Emmy Award winner Jason Katims (“Friday Night Lights,” “Parenthood”), who also serves as showrunner and executive producer through True Jack Productions with Jenny Mullen. Napolitano is also attached as EP with Oscar winner Fisher Stevens (“Palmer”), who will direct the pilot.

Britton (“Friday Night Lights”) and Schilling (“Orange Is the New Black”) star alongside newcomer Colin O’Brien, whose Edward is the sole survivor of a headline-making commercial airline crash.

“What’s it like being famous?” A young girl asks Edward (O’Brien) out at the start of the first trailer, which dropped on Wednesday. “I’m not famous,” he replies, to which she replies, “Yeah, well,” teasingly.

“Dear Edward” tells the story of Edward Adler (O’Brien), a 12-year-old boy who is the sole survivor of a devastating commercial plane crash. He loses his family in this tragic accident. As Edward and others around the world figure out how to move forward in the wake of the accident, unexpected friendships, romances and community form through their shared grief, especially within the counseling group led by Schilling’s character.

At the end of the clip, Schilling says, “What happened is not fair, Edward.” “But I will do my best to take care of you. And that’s the truth that will never die.”
