“The Daily Show” is back! And the late-night series’ first-ever guest host, “Saturday Night Live” Emmy nominee Leslie Jones, wasted no time digging into the week’s highlights with her signature mix of irreverent humor and everywoman wit.
Certainly, she was forgiven for not putting a stop to the growing scandal behind President Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents after five more pages were improperly taken and stored at his private Delaware residence.
But first, she took some sarcasm at former President Donald Trump for… doing the same thing at Mar-a-Lago.
“You guys remember that for the past six months, we’ve been roasting the sh*t out of Donald Trump for having classified documents at our house?” Jones posed. “And I have to agree. What kind of fool – I mean, what kind of irresponsible piece of shit would keep classified documents at his house? I mean, he’d be the only fool to do something so stupid.
“The Daily Show” then broke with cutaways of news reports about Biden’s mishandling of documents in Delaware.
Cutting back to Jones, the comedian was downcast, staring into mid-distance before putting his forehead in his hands in frustration and frustration. He then shook his head and looked at the camera: “Just roll the damn tape.”
Producers then ran a clip from NBC News on Tuesday, citing growing calls for transparency from both sides of the aisle from Biden as the scandal continues to unfold. The clip featured the now infamous back-and-forth Biden had with the press claiming his garage was closed.
After all, he just wouldn’t leave his Corvette, next to which the first batch of documents were found, on the road.
“what!?” Jones said incredulously. “This is a national security emergency, okay? An old man with access to a Corvette!
The “Daily Show” audience applauded.
“Wow, I don’t know what’s scarier: Biden losing the nuclear codes or Biden going on Highway 85,” Jones said. “Biden: Please don’t drive that Corvette! Your ass can’t even ride a bike!
