What happened last season on FBI, Most Wanted and International?

Here’s a brief overview of the biggest things that happened on each series over the past season, before you tune in for the return of the “FBI” franchise on CBS on Tuesday, September 20. The three shows cross over in their respective season premieres to launch the third “FBI” show, “FBI: International”, which is set in Budapest, Hungary.

‘FBI’ season 4 recap

Kellan Lutz left the show in October 2021 after shooting his character Kenny Crosby.

Maggie Bell (Missie Peregrym) went undercover and began dating a fellow agent whom her partner, Oye Zidane (Zico Zaki), didn’t trust. The OA instincts proved to be true when Maggie realized that her new boyfriend’s temperamental ways put everyone else in danger. In the last episode before the finale, Maggie and Oye encounter a terrorist armed with sarin gas. Maggie’s exposure to the gas was almost fatal and the last time we saw her, she was in the hospital, unconscious. The interval was written for Peregrym’s real-life pregnancy. The actress has confirmed that she will be back for season 5.

Oye breaks up with his girlfriend, federal prosecutor Mona Nazri (Yasmin Aker), after he tries to persuade her to leave the FBI and take a private security job. Oy also turned down a major promotion opportunity after realizing that he would have to “spin” the truth, which included not supporting two police reports from then-partner Tiffany Wallace (Kathleen Renée Turner), who had committed a crime against her. The associate had beaten up the suspect.

Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten) stepped in as a temporary replacement and teamed up with both Tiffany and Stuart Scola (John Boyd), which was awkward as they once had a one-night stand.

Jubal Valentine (Jeremy Sisto)’s on-again girlfriend Reina Trenholm (Kathleen Monroe) is shot as part of drug lord Antonio Vargas’ campaign of terror against his unit. She eventually died. Vargas is captured after Isobel Castile (Alana de la Garza), who had previously released him to save the life of another agent, bluffs him this time. After Jubal’s son Tyler is diagnosed with leukemia, he has yet another scare in the unaired series finale in which the team investigates a possible shooting at Tyler’s school. CBS pulled the episode after the horrific real-life school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

‘FBI: Most Wanted’ season 3 recap

Original cast member Julian McMahon left the series in March after his character, team leader Jess LaCroix, was shot and killed in the line of duty. Remy Scott (Dylan McDermott) took over as head of the FBI Fugitive Task Force, while the rest of the squad (notably Hana Gibson, played by Keisha Castle-Hughes), were still grieving. Hana’s half-brother George Kouka (Matt Mercurio) shows up and moves in with her, but makes some questionable choices.

Sherrill Barnes’s (Roxy Sternberg, who was pregnant in real life) was in the middle of a tense shootout, but both he, his wife, and child were not harmed. She was out on maternity leave for several episodes. After the Season 3 finale, CBS announced that Miguel Gómez (who played Ivan Ortiz), would not return for Season 4. Edwin Hodge of the “Good Sam” and “The Purge” film franchises has joined in a new role.

All the agents’ families, including Remy’s mother, who has Alzheimer’s, met after being kept in a safe house when they were targeted by a suspect.
