“Law & Order,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime” return for the 2022-2023 season on Thursday, September 22 in an epic three-series crossover involving all three squads. Will be Stop a bombing and shut down an international sex trafficking ring.
If you can’t remember what happened last season (or skipped a few episodes), here’s what you need to know about each series, from the trial of the man who killed Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) to his wife. But Kathy (Isabelle Gillies), Olivia Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) rekindled romance with a former fiancé took an unexpected turn.

The original “Motherhood” returns for its 21st season, 12 years after its cancellation, with series veteran Sam Waterston reprising his role as DA Jack McCoy and Anthony Anderson as senior detective Kevin Bernard.
Season 21 stars regular Jeffrey Donovan as Junior Detective Frank Cosgrove, Camry Mannheim as Lieutenant Kate Dixon, Hugh Dancy as Executive Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price, and Odelya Halevi as Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun, who All will return for season 22. Anthony Anderson dropped out after the season ended, and Mehcad Brooks of “Supergirl” was chosen as Cosgrove’s new partner.
The team “burst to the headlines” involving social media influencers, a Britney Spears-esque guardianship, and a Bill Cosby-like rapist who was shot by one of their victims. In the latter case, Cosgrove received a confession from the shooter, but Price didn’t like the way it was received, and Maroon disputed whether the woman was found guilty after other victims rally around her.
Law & Order: SVU Season 23 Recap
The season began with Captain Benson being knocked off the road and injuring his leg, which kept him behind a desk and even contemplating retiring for a few episodes. He had a feud with longtime friend Rafael Barba (Raul Esparza) over his decision to represent mobster Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott) at trial for the murder of Kathy Stabler. Barba somewhat heals the rift by successfully defending a battered woman who had killed her ex-boyfriend after years of abuse.
When Benson’s former fiancé, writer Burton Lowe (Aidan Quinn), re-enters her life, they quickly rekindle their romance, until a woman accuses him of sexual assault. Both Benson and Lowe had to reevaluate the nature of their relationship, which began when Lowe was 21 and Olivia was only 16. After more assault charges, Lowe pleaded guilty to accepting six years’ probation and registering as a sex offender.
Amanda Rollins (Kelly Giddish) was reluctant to make her relationship with ADA Dominic Carisi, Jr. (Peter Scanvino) public, but eventually agreed to tell her coworkers. Carey clashes with trial division chief Lorraine Maxwell (Betty Buckley) over whether a sex-trafficking victim should be eased in her triple murder case, and convinces her to recommend community service instead of prison.
Detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) joins the squad and, despite being new to the sex crimes unit, proves himself to be a valuable asset, earning the respect of Benson and Sergeant Finn Tutuola (Ice-T).
Law & Order: Organized Crime season 2 recap
The spinoff series crosses with “SVU” for the high-stakes trial of mobster Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott) in the death of Stabler’s wife, Cathy. Despite Wheatley’s threat to Ada Carisi on the stand, the trial ended in a hung jury. After being freed from prison, Wheatley hacks into the city’s power grid and demands the release of his criminal co-worker son, Richie (Nick Creegan), and Stabler “confesses” him to frame Cathy for murder. . Richie was released, but was killed by his own father.
Wheatley then kidnaps Stabler’s mother Bernadette (Ellen Burstyn) and threatens to kill her as well, but Stabler was able to save her. Wheatley attempts to escape with ex-wife Angela (Tamara Taylor), but when Stabler calls Angela and tells her about Richie, he throws his car into the ocean, trying to kill himself and Wheatley. Of. Angela’s body was later found, but not Wheatley’s. (His return is unlikely, given that McDermott is now starring on another Dick Wolf series, “FBI: Most Wanted.”)
Stabler goes undercover to get stuff done on dirty cop and old friend Frank Donnelly (Dennis Leary), who runs a criminal gang called The Brotherhood. When Stabler revealed that he knew of Donnelly’s criminal activities and tried to arrest him, Donnelly decided to commit suicide on the train tracks instead.
