Before Sabrina the Impacciatore stole America’s heart in “The White Lotus” Season 2, she was already a well-known comedy actress and gay icon in Italy. “Since I was 18 they decided I was a gay man,” the impassitor shared during wrap women‘S “Unwrapped” podcast. They called me out for every gay pride. I was the godmother, a Greek bride for the every-expression queer celebration. I was always called that, and I liked that.
In the second season of the award-winning Mike White series, which is set in Sicily, Impassiatore plays Valentina, a fiery hotel manager who discovers a sexual awakening.

The impassiatore revealed that even before reading the script, as soon as she learned that Valentina was queer, the actress felt a “responsibility” as a storyteller. Impacciatore said, “The LGBTQ community in Italy is fighting a lot… This government is even tougher and its approach is very square.” “They really have to fight and struggle to feel respected and get equal rights.”
Because of this, the impassiatore vowed to make sure that Valentina would be “understood by everyone”, even those outside the queer community. During her live audition, she performed a scene with Isabella (Eleonora Romandini), in which the impassiator added extra emotion. “I’ll never forget that Mike had tears,” she said. “He said to me, ‘Oh, Sabrina, I didn’t expect Valentina to be so sweet. And, and he said, I’d like to explore this direction with you.'”
This direction paid off as major Hollywood stars, including fellow gay icon Sir Elton John, were eager to meet the impassiator in person. According to the actress, both the superstars were together at an event. “Someone came over and said, ‘Sir Elton John would like to see you.’ Then they took me in front of him. He was sitting. He was eating so I thought, ‘Oh my god, this is the worst moment I’ve ever met him. He’s eating a really scrumptious mouthful…’ and He turned and he stood up and he hugged me like that. And he held these hugs for so long I couldn’t believe it. He was like oh my god. Yeah, I was like a child.
