Whoopi Goldberg was blunt on Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” saying that, because of diligent Republican efforts to block the proposed legislation by the Biden administration, the people of the United States are becoming “bonded.”
Whoopi’s remarks came as the women were discussing Vice President Kamala Harris’ first late-night appearance since taking office, which appeared on Monday night’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” During his appearance, Harris called Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s move to bus migrants to Washington D.C. a “disgrace of duty” and argued that a true leader would try to find a real solution.
Conservative host Alyssa Farah Griffin attempted to turn the table on Harris’ comments, saying that “for the Biden/Harris administration to say that we need to look at leadership on the issue of border security and the immigration crisis in this country in a way are rich because they haven’t tried to solve the problem.” But, as Whoopi later pointed out, the first bill proposed by Biden after taking office was an immigration bill, intended to provide funding for border security as well as a route to citizenship. That bill still hasn’t got a vote.
“To say nothing has been done when their first offer – listen, we all know what’s up,” Whoopi shot back. “All this stuff should What is happening to the people of this country is being linked from the other side. you know, no All On the other side, but lots of the other side.”
Whoopi said that, in her opinion, Harris provided a real solution for moving forward toward resolving immigration issues.
“Kamala’s message was very clear. He provided the solution, he said vote,” said Whoopi. “It’s a very obvious solution to me.”
Meanwhile, host Ana Navarro said she’d like to see more rigor from the vice president, and encouraged Harris to take things further, especially with regards to Republican lawmakers.
“Frankly, you know what he should do on immigration? He should give his bluff,” Navarro said. “He should call a summit and invite DeSantis, and invite Abbott. Invite the governors and say, ‘Okay, offer a solution. And let’s work together.'”
