When Hope Mikaelson gives in to the idea that she needs a boyfriend, Josie Saltzman is one of the first people she bonds with. They had known each other for years since Hope started at Salvatore School and eventually became good friends. But their relationship was also one of the most unique in the series. Hope and Josie’s friendship, like any other, has its ups and downs. They are not always in a perfect spot. But when it comes down to it, they will always be there for each other and stick up for the other. The relationship between Josie and Hope transcends their problems, and while things may not always be perfect, they tend to be there for each other in the end.
Josie takes back her magic to save Hope, even if Josie isn’t sure she wants it. Hope refused to give up on Josie when Josie was at her lowest point. Even when Josie is gone, she still plays a vital role in helping Hope when Hope needs it most. When Hope initially goes to Josie for help, she calls them “kindred spirits out of revenge.” While things aren’t going to be smooth sailing from there, it’s the first hint to understanding the duo’s potential. Throughout the four seasons, Josie and Hope prove that they know each other very well, perhaps better than anyone else. They both struggled against their dark sides, and each did everything he could to save the other. 7 the talisman
A simple necklace that Hope gives to Josie for her sixteenth birthday turns out to be much more critical than anyone initially realized. Hope gives Josie the necklace as a potential olive branch in their growing friendship, but it also has an alternative use. The talisman is spelled to make quiet things heard, something that saves Josie’s life later than the night after Josie’s short-lived resurrected and possessed biological mother, Jo, buries her alive.
When Josie leaves Mystic Falls in search of a way to save Hope, she has the Talisman with her. In the series finale, Hope reveals that Josie had sent the Talisman back to her, explaining that Josie had spelled the Talisman, which helped bring Hope back to humanity. Since the Talisman’s first introduction, it has bonded Hope and Josie together.
6 Memories of hope return

Hope had seemed sad, but unconvinced to reveal her return to anyone. But because Josie took the step forward, she was able to give Hope back her life, including Hope’s relationships with her family and friends.
5 Hope’s Return to Salvatore School
Josie and Landon begin a brief romance after Hope fades from their memories. But when they both remember Hope, things get a little awkward for all three involved. Of course, no one wants to hurt anyone else, but it’s almost impossible, given the complicated events around them. although Hope and Josie’s Blossoming Friendship If they don’t immediately return to normal after regaining memories, it’s safe to say they don’t get in Landon’s way.
Aware that feelings have been hurt, Hope goes to Josie first before re-enrolling in school because she wants to make sure it’s okay. They had a heartfelt conversation and acknowledged that Hope had missed Josie and that they were at school. While Landon reveals in a note that he plans to leave after already disappearing into the night, Josie tells Hope that she wants Hope to stay and that it is her school and home.
4 Hope refused to give up Josie
When Dark Josie took over, part of the Super Squad wanted to look at handling Josie like any other monster. Hope wouldn’t allow that. Instead, when someone gets in the way of her plans to save Josie, like Caleb and Alaric, she sent them to the therapy box to keep them from interfering. Hope knew Josie was still inside and refused to give her up or suggest that the darkness had won. The final step of Hope’s plan sends her into Josie’s subconscious.
3 Hope inspired Josie to save himself
Hope’s journey into Josie’s subconscious isn’t exactly what she probably imagined. Hope is surrounded by a fairytale world and an obnoxious pig who refuses to be nice to Hope. But when Hope discovers that Josie is the pig and is hiding from her evil counterpart, Hope tries to encourage Josie to change the story because she can win. When Hope eventually turns to stone, Josie is inspired by Hope’s ability to be powerful and good, which gives her the courage to stand up to her dark self and emerge victorious.
2 Josie brought back the humanity of Hope
When almost everyone believed that Hope’s humanity could no longer be reached and they might have to start discussing more dangerous options, Josie always believed in Hope. Josie spoke to Freya on the phone and regularly searched for Hope, spending all of her time figuring out how to restore Hope’s humanity. Others may have given up, but Josie never did, she even went as far as… bring out her dark counterpart to take on No-Humanity Hope although her dark side was known to scare her. It can also be noted that, despite her humanity, Hope still refused to do much harm to Josie, even though she had been willing to do much worse to Alaric and Lizzie.
Though Hope put Josie in the therapy box, seemingly wishing Josie would withdraw and consider her unreachable, Josie’s desire to save Hope was only fueled. Josie’s therapy box depicts her at Mikaelson Memorial Hospital, depicting the Mikaelson family as doctors and heroes. Josie’s journey ultimately culminates in her successful plan to restore Hope’s humanity by casting a powerful spell on the Talisman and organizing a Mikaelson family reunion.
1 A God-Made Weapon
After discovering that Josie was responsible for the plan that brought Hope’s humanity back to the fore, Hope knew with absolute certainty what to do with the only weapon in the world that could kill her. Given Josie’s determination to save Hope and her stubborn refusal to harm Hope, Hope knew the weapon would be safe with someone who would never use it. Sending the weapon to Josie suggests the great amount of faith and trust Hope must have in Josie to send her something so important.
