“Yellowjacket” fans are a devoted bunch, and the finale, which included the tragic death of a major character, angered some so much that they threatened to kill one of the show’s co-creators, Ashley Lyle.
“So, I know some people really enjoyed the #Yellowjackets finale…and some people…didn’t (are death threats getting a showrunner rite of passage? Because I can’t live without him) I can!) But I’d love to take a moment to say thank you.” Everyone who came along on this ride with us,” Lyle tweeted on Friday.
He said, “If it brings you joy, or makes you laugh, or make you think, or cry, or provide respite from real life, it’s all about feeling craziness. All we can do is let us That’s the story we need to tell.”
Lyle’s partner and co-producer, Bart Nickerson, is not on Twitter, nor is co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco.
Director Karen Kusama, who helmed the episode as well as the show’s pilot, told hollywood reporter The death of Juliet Lewis’ character Natalie was in the works from the start.
“She was always going to play a role that catered to a role that we love in television, which is aggressive, self-destructive, self-sabotaging…shit-inciting. The tension was always that we understood that people love to watch those characters, but the reality is that they self-destruct, literally or figuratively,” Kusama said.
Lyle vowed that the show still had plenty of stories to tell, including finally revealing the identity of the “Pit Girl”. will result in RevisedWho’s death affects our (anti)heroes in a big way? Will our girls’ struggle to survive against the elements (and themselves) get even dirtier and dirtier? Do we still have to tell the Pit Girl story? you betcha!”
Season 2 of “Yellowjackets” is currently airing on Showtime.
