‘You set these people up’

After several people were unexpectedly arrested for voter fraud this week in Florida, the host of “The View” met with Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday. According to the women, politicians “set up these people.”

The discussion came in light of body camera footage released this week in which officials arrested 20 people earlier in the summer who allegedly broke state election laws on the right to felony. Each had previously been convicted of murder or a sex offence, but was voted out in 2020. In the footage, those being picked up were clearly confused and had no idea they had violated any voting laws. According to DeSantis, “Amendment 4,” a ballot passed in 2018 that restores the right to vote for criminals, did not apply to these people because criminals convicted of murder or sex crimes cannot vote, even if they have served jail time. I have given my time.

On top of that, Whoopi Goldberg was completely confused, saying she always thought that, if a person was ineligible to vote, they would be sent to the site immediately. Then, he vented his anger on DeSantis for not giving these people clear information.

“What are you doing man?” Goldberg said. “Why are you allowing this? It’s Yours Problem. You prepare these people to be a part of this ‘voter fraud’ that you keep looking for. And you installed these guys. What are you doing? And why, why is it — you know, it wasn’t like you had to worry about voting. It was very clear.”

Of course, Joy Behar was not surprised by the move. As for the host, something like this is par for the course among most Republicans at this point.

“This is what they are doing so far, Republican Party. Because they cannot win, and they know they cannot win, because the demographics are changing and the future is not Republican,” Behar said. They have to cheat.”

Host Sarah Haines agreed that DeSantis’ move felt like “trapping” and argued that her election to the Office of Crime and Security is in itself a “waste of law enforcement.” Meanwhile, Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed it was a set-up, but not just voters.

“Ron DeSantis Media, the liberal media, I would say is trying to come out and defend violent criminals and murderers who are trying to vote illegally. It is a set-up,” she said. That’s what he does. He knows how to get the attention of the news, he wants us all to say, ‘Of course killers should be able to vote!'”

Farah Griffin said that’s actually a clear indicator that DeSantis isn’t really concerned about voter fraud in the country — and it comes across as a friend of hers.

“To be honest, if he cares about addressing voter fraud, there is a certain Florida resident who is guilty of trying to defraud people 81 million of their votes! Donald Trump,” said Farah Griffin “We’re not doing anything about it.”
