Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Taapsee Pannu and Preity Zinta among others praised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decision to provide equal pay to male and female cricketers. This is a big step in the right direction, as many on social media called Thursday. The secretary of the Board of Trustees for Cricket in India, Jay Shah, took to Twitter to announce the news. He wrote: “I am delighted to announce @BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We implement a compensation policy for our contracted @BCCIWomen cricket players. The match fee for both men and women cricketers will be the same as we enter a new era of gender equality in cricket. ”
