Akshay Kumar recently turned a year older and many celebrities from his wife to his colleagues dropped their birthday wishes for the actor. However, one wish seems to have caused quite a stir and it’s his Hera Pheric co-star Suniel Shetty. While the two actors have shared screen space in multiple films, Akshay’s reference to the iconic Bollywood comedy has caused quite a stir on social media as netizens believe a third installment is on the way.
Akshay Kumar Responds To Suniel Shetty’s Birthday Wish; fans think it’s a subtle hint about Hera Pheri 3
In a recent post shared by Suniel Shetty on Twitter, the actor wished his friend and colleague Akshay Kumar in his unique style. Along with the caption, “Hey Rajuuuuu!! Happy Birthday re baba!! @akshaykumar Have fun”, the actor also posted a video filled with photos of him with Akshay Kumar. Featuring the background music of ‘Golmaal Hai’, the video featured throwback- photos from their movies and photo shoots, including their 2000 film Hera Pheric as well as some photos of events and personal memories.
In response, Akshay tweeted: “Shyam bhai, thanks for the wishes. Phir thodi hera pheri kar le?” The fact that the actors referred to each other with the movie-like names Raju and Shyam has excited the fans. Some of them believe this is their way of giving subtle hints about a Hera Pheri 3 in the making.

Readers would be aware that the rumors about Hera Pheri 3 have been doing the rounds together for years. The franchise is expected to return to the big screen 16 years after the sequel Phir Hera Pheric issued. Paresh Rawal has also hinted that a third installment in 2021 is in the works, while Feroz Nadiadwala confirmed the same in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama in June this year.
“You will see it very soon with the same star cast – Akshay ji, Paresh bhai and Suniel ji. The story is in place and we are working on certain modalities. It is made the same way, preserving the innocence of the characters. We cannot take past achievements for granted. So we have to be extra careful about our content, story, screenplay, characters, mannerisms, etc,” he said.
Speaking of the comedy franchise, Hera Pheric released in 2000, while the sequel Phir Hera Pheric released in 2006. We wonder if the actors sealed the deal with this post, but our guess is as good as yours! Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.
