Action packed movies have always dominated Bollywood. For years, audiences have loved to see a macho hero beat up the villains and Bollywood films have never disappointed. In fact, the action sequences have only gotten better with the help of technology. While over the years, content-driven movies from everyone’s life have caught the attention of everyone, there are still some die-hard Bollywood fanatics who would whistle at every blow the hero landed. Well, for all those fans who crave some thrilling drama and action after Shah Rukh Khan’s biggie Pathaan, Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa is here. It is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kaithi and Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra, Makarand Deshpande, Gajraj Rao and Amala Paul also play pivotal roles. Bholaa has hit theaters today on the occasion of Ram Navami, but is it worth watching? Here’s the full review.
What is it about?
Bholaa is a story about a man who spent 10 long years in prison. But he is no ordinary man. There is a long history that makes him an intriguing character. After his release from prison, all he wants to do is meet his daughter who is in an orphanage. She has no idea that her father is still alive. But there’s a huge twist when he meets Agent Diana. She is on a mission to take on a drug mafia and she seeks Bholaa’s help to do so. The journey takes one night but there is plenty of drama.

What’s hot?
Ajay Devgn and action movie are like a match made in heaven. Especially when a bike chase is involved. Ajay Devgn has mastered the skill of bringing out the best but dhad sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Some sequences will also make you doubt the existence of gravity, but isn’t that the motto of all action movies? Ajay Devgn is a star performer and his quiet yet powerful demeanor is captivating. He rules the screen despite having less but very intense dialogues. There are also some comedic scenes that will make you chuckle. Tabu is one of the best actresses in Bollywood and in Bholaa she doesn’t play a damsel in distress. She has previously paired shoes with Ajay Devgn when it comes to fight sequences. In fact, the movie starts with Tabu performing a car chase scene completely Singham style. Gajraj Rao is in his best element but on the other hand, Sanjay Mishra seems like wasted talent in the film. The climax brings the big shock and it will make you go ‘whattt’.
What not?
Bholaa lacks story. There isn’t much in the movie that builds up the characters. But spoiler here is that it’s only the first part of the movie. Bholaa is getting a sequel and you can expect part one to be just a building block for it. But there could have been more for the audience to feel the connection. Bholaa is ruled by pure raw action, but sometimes it gets too much. The background score of the film is a major disappointment. Ajay Devgn movies generally get the best music, but this time it’s not optimal.
