Filmmaker Sajid Khan’s participation in Bigg Boss 16 sparked a response on social media. From netizens to celebrities, everyone is calling out Colors TV and Salman Khan for whitewashing Sajid Khan’s past and not even addressing it during the show’s premiere. Nine women had come forward during the MeToo movement to report sexual harassment against him. Singer Sona Mohapatra recently mauled MeToo-accused Sajid Khan, called Colors RV channel and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who is Sajid’s cousin. Now she has even called out lyricist Javed Akhtar for not condemning his Bigg Boss 16 participation.

Sona Mohapatra again shared a tweet on Sunday stating “a few things that this reality movie contestant has been accused of”. Sona wrote, “This is Sajid Khan, now on a reality TV show. Then there’s Anu Malik, who judges a music reality show on TV, no less for kids. Kailash Kher? Celebrities judge on TV. All shouted by loads of women. in #MeToo. Indian TV channels, executives are indeed depraved and sad a lot.”
In another tweet, Sona Mohapatra said: “And of course, the series sleaze. Vikas Bahl and master of disgusting, Suhel Seth, all back on Indian TV…thought that calms me (?) under; Ladies.” Vikas Bahl, who is currently gearing up for Bye, was given a clean slate in a sexual misconduct case. It was submitted in 2019 by a former employee.

She even called out Javed Akhtar for not condemning Sajid Khan, saying: “Dear @Javedakhtarjadu, I know you as a veteran, feminist and opinion leader of the Indian film industry? That you have chosen to remain silent about these men all these years. whom you personally know very well hurts me and breaks my heart. Charity begins at home.”

Previously, she had tweeted: “Dear @FarOutAkhtar, you stand for an organization called MARD. This man & the many others are known to you personally. Speak out, stand up only when it suits you or pays to give a virtuous signal for ‘our cause’, isn’t it now? Charity starts at home.”

Sajid Khan didn’t cover any of these topics during Saturday’s premiere episode. He said: “For the past four years the head has been ghar par baitha hoon, not really got much work. Toh jab Colors ki team ne mujhe invite kiya toh I just felt ki it’s time ki main ghar mein bhi jaun, thoda apne bare mein bhi sikhu (I’ve been sitting at home for the past four years and didn’t get much work. So when I was invited by Colors, I thought it was time to go into the house and learn more about myself.)”
Sajid Khan continued: “Maine zindagi main bohot utaar-chadhav dekhein hai. Pichhle chaar salon main bahut niche…(I have seen many ups and downs in life. Very low in the last four years…).” Salman Khan interrupted the director and said, ‘Ek hi utaar dekha hai. Baaki chadhav hi chadhav dekhein hain (You only saw one drop, but only the ups).”
The house full director then added: “Ek bahut bada utaar dekha hain (I also saw a huge drop.)”
He continued: “Ek kahawat hai ‘Failure destroys people’, mere case main ‘Success has destroyed me’. Main bahut arrogant ho gaya tha, back to back teen hits thi… i thought i had become infallible, main koi galat movie bana hi nahi sakta. Arrogant statements de raha tha, upar wale ne phat karke jhapad maara Himmatwala niche…thoda sa humble hua phir se jhapad maara aur humshakals niche. humshakals ke baad toh maine apni shakal hi chhupa di (There is a saying ‘failure destroys people’, but in my case ‘success destroyed me’. I had become very arrogant, had three consecutive hits… so I thought I was infallible I just couldn’t make a wrong movie. I made arrogant statements, god gave one blow, ‘Himatwala’ flopped… got a little humble, dove again and ‘Humshakals’ came and I hid my face.)”
Meanwhile, Sajid Khan will direct John Abraham and Riteish Deshmukh in 100%. The said movie is expected to be a comedy starring Nora Fatehi and the popular reality show contestant turned actress Shehnaaz Gill.
