EXCLUSIVE: Portugal is the latest area to order a local version of CBS let’s make a deal
Airing daily in prime time on local network TVI, the show marks the latest expansion in territory for a format that’s taken a shot in the arm since Marcus Lemonis and Nancy Glass’s fledgling Marcus/Glass Productions acquired the underlying intellectual property.
Fremantle Portugal will produce the Portuguese version and Pedro Texeira will be at the helm.
In let’s make a deal which has aired in the US for 50 years and on CBS for 14 years, select members of the studio audience do business with the host. These traders are offered something of value and are given the choice of keeping it or trading it for another item, while keeping the other item hidden from the trader until that decision is made.
Can’t Stop Media landed the deal with Portugal, and Matthieu Porte, the distributor’s international and development partner, said he will secure many more local deals this year.
Deadline was announced by Marcus/Glass Productions in late 2021, who acquired the Hatos-Hall Productions game show catalog inclusive let’s make a deal and the show has since been sold to Germany, Hungary and Indonesia. Local versions are also in development in the UK, France, Italy, Poland, Greece, Argentina and Chile.
