Characters we want to see in the sequel

Avatar: the way of the water differed from the first film in many ways, including a shift in theme and image. While the first movie in the franchise was full of action and adventure, the sequel delved further into the world of Pandora, even highlighting the beauty of flora and fauna with its impeccable visuals, which won an Academy Award. It also introduced us to quite a few new characters, ranging from Jake Sully’s new family to clans other than Omatikaya.

Characters such as Spider (Jack Champion), while not the primary focus of the story, significantly influenced the film over time, leaving a controversial incident for viewers to discuss. On the other hand, we meet some familiar faces, such as Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang), who is looking for Jake Sully in revenge for killing him in the first film. No matter how many characters we encounter Avatar: the way of the waterthe next sequel in the franchise, avatar3, will feature many new and returning characters, making the story even more interesting for us to watch. With this in mind, these are the characters we’d love to see avatar3.

Spider

Spider, a beloved non-Na’vi member of Jake Sully’s family, is one of the most compelling characters in it Avatar: the way of the water. After the devastating war in the first film, all humans except those who had the trust of the Omatikayan clan were banished back to Earth, but Spider was a newborn baby; therefore he had to stay in Pandora. He grew up with Jake’s family and embraced the look and way of life of the Na’vi. However, he changes dramatically in the sequel after being captured by Colonel Quaritch’s men while getting closer to him.

In some ways, he even influenced the cold-hearted Quaritch, which leads us to the scene where Neytiri puts a knife to Spider’s neck to save her child from Quaritch’s clutches. Then, during the climactic scene, he does something stupid out of love: he saves Colonel Quaritch from drowning, which infuriates many viewers. Nevertheless, that scene will have a significant impact on Spider’s character, either showing how good-hearted he is or showing how well it could affect Quaritch in the future. In any case, Spider will undoubtedly play an important role in the franchise’s upcoming films, if not avatar3.

Colonel Quaritch

Many were dissatisfied with where it went after learning that Colonel Quaritch would be returning as the main antagonist in the sequel, and things got a lot worse after that Avatar: the way of the water‘s climax. Quaritch is once again rescued and may appear as an antagonist in the next episode. Well, that’s a bit far fetched, because James Cameroon is a genius, and he wouldn’t pick such an obvious plot hole. Throughout the second film, we see the progress of Quaritch, who tried to reason with Jake about why he was betraying his own kind by siding with the Na’vi. Still, his original goal was to occupy Pandora.

The transition from the first to the second film is brilliant, and over time, thanks to Spider’s influence, Quaritch has become more receptive to the prospect of Na’vi people. However, this makes us wonder what role Quaritch will play in the next installment, which will most likely be a redemption arc based on the lineup so far. Audiences wouldn’t want to see him return as an antagonist; instead, it would make much more sense to atone for his actions and be the driving force behind Spider’s development.

Kiri

Kiri, more than any other character in Avatar: the way of the water, is shrouded in mystery because she is unlike any other Na’vi or Omatikayan we have encountered so far. As the biological daughter of Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) and the adopted daughter of Jake Sully, she has had an unusually deep bond with Eywa since childhood.

When the family fled the Omatikayan clan and found refuge in the Metkayina clan, a paradise of ocean beauty, we saw Kiri bonds with Eywa underwater, which was an unforgettable moment for those who had the chance to see it in theaters. However, her strange powers have yet to be dealt with, which is why only she can feel closer to Eywa than any other Na’vi. Maybe we’ll see more of her in the next installment.

General Ardmore

Even though Miles Quaritch was the main antagonist in Avatar: the way of the water, General Ardmore was the one who ordered the troops to invade Pandora further. She is the commander of the Joint Expeditionary Task Force, which oversees all operations and is quite ruthless in making decisions.

Ardmore considers it her duty to provide a home for humanity’s future on Pandora, even authorizing RDA to kill Jake Sully for his raids against them. While her intentions seem to be in the best interest of humanity, she goes too far, as described in the graphic novel Avatar: The High Ground. While she didn’t get much screen time Avatar: the way of the waterit was strongly implied that she would become the main villain in subsequent episodes in particular avatar3.
