Actress Lana Condor may not be ready to say goodbye to her “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” character just yet. The actress told The Wrap that she’s set to return as Lara Jean in a cameo on Netflix’s spin-off series, “XO, Kitty.”
“I would definitely never say [to returning],” Condor said. “I mean, I think it’s pretty obvious that I love the world of ‘To All the Boys,’ and I’ve devoted a lot of my youth to it. I feel that world is home.”
“XO, Kitty” stars Anna Cathcart as the youngest Song Covey sister, Catherine, who is referred to as “Kitty” from Jenny Han’s book trilogy. The spin-off series highlights Kitty’s own high school adventures in Korea, now that her sister Lara Jean (Condor) has gone off to college.
“It’s so exciting to see Anna take off on her own, because she was still young when I was working with her, but she was always the most professional on set. She was always the most prepared,” Condor said. “I always felt like I was hanging out with a peer, not someone younger than me, and so I respect that a lot and I’m really excited for that.”
Regarding the possibility of a return, Condor said that there have been no talks yet with producer Jenny Han about a cameo. She added, “I also know there’s a writers’ strike going on, so it’s understandable, but I’m so excited for that.”
“XO, Kitty” Season 1 involved a text exchange between Kitty and her sisters Margot and Lara Jean after she initially thought her long-distance boyfriend Dae (Minyoung Choi) was cheating on her. After a poor ending, both romantically and in terms of Kitty’s education, the Netflix series has been renewed for a second season.
Condor can next be seen in the film “Ruby Gilman: Teenage Kraken,” which will be released in theaters June 30.
