Peter Pan & Wendy will premiere on Disney+ in April
Peter Pan and Wendy has assembled an amazing cast to bring to life the classic story of the boy who never grew up. Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets), Alexander Molony (The hesitant landlord), Ever Anderson (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter), Yara Shahidi (Adult), Alyssa Wapanatahk, Joshua Pickering (A discovery of witches), Jacobi Jupe, Molly Parker (House of cards), Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and Jim Gaffigan (The Jim Gaffigan Show).
Directed by David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon, the Green Knight) from a screenplay by David Lowery & Toby Halbrooks (The Green Knight), and based on the JM Barrie novel and the animated film Peter Pan, Peter Pan and Wendy counts Jim Whitaker (Pete’s Dragon) as producer, with Adam Borba (A wrinkle in time), Thomas M. “I’m hesitant to use the word grounded because it has fairies and flying children in it,” said director David Lowery of his new performance before making the comparison. Peter Pan and Wendy to gritty Oscar treasure The Revenant. “But when I went to talk to the studio about it, I thought, ‘What if we stay true to the original material, of course remove the problematic elements from both the novel and the animated film, but then treat it like The Revenant. What if we made The Revenant with flying children?’ And they were looking forward to it. It’s not 100% like that, but it’s kind of an ethos that we made it with… That was kind of the idea, let it be visceral, let it be grounded, it’s still joyful, it’s still full of exuberance and magic, so that’s why I don’t like using the word ‘grounded’.'”
Peter Pan and Wendy will premiere on Disney+ on April 28, 2023.
