Sahejmeen Kaur made her Bollywood debut with raksha bandhan. She is currently waiting for some new opportunities. She played the role of Akshay Kumar’s sister and impressed with her tomboy-esque attitude in the family drama Aanand L. Rai. Recently, in an exclusive interview with Bollywood HungamaSahejmeen gave the audience a glimpse into her personal life and relived memories of her debut.
Raksha Bandhan Actress Sahejmeen Kaur Admits Love For RRR; says “Rajamouli Sir is a genius, loved the bromance of Jr NTR and Ram Charan”
Working with superstars in her debut film was not something Sahejmeen Kaur expected. Still, the actress believes that she has created some unbreakable bonds. Describing her relationship with star Bhumi Pednekar, she said: “Bhumi Pednekar is very close to my heart and she is extremely understanding. Also, my sisters (on screen) are my eternal friends.” She recalled how much the experience of shooting was, “It was like we were celebrating our lives. I felt like it was a festival full of colors, happiness, good food and mithais,” she described.
Speaking of her debut experience, the actress also reminisced about the extensive preparation she had to undergo for it. From clipping nails to attending improv sessions (improvisation) to being spontaneous, the actress had to undergo some major transformations for her role. “There are some similarities with my image on the screen, but mostly we are different people. We’re both from Delhi so I didn’t have to work on my accent, we’re both expressive and we don’t have filters. However, the difference was that I had to cut my hair short to play Saraswati, otherwise Sahej would already have long long hair. Saraswati made sure her nails weren’t long. Sahej likes long painted nails. Besides, we both walk very differently.”
Now that she is in the industry, Sahejmeen also discussed her dream films. “I really want to make a movie as a lead one day and the whole movie on my shoulders. I would love to play Madhubala Ji and Smita Patil ji in their respective biographies. It would be a great honor for me. I also want to share the screen with SRK,” she shared. She also spoke about her love for Southern movies, adding, “I love Southern cinema. Recently I saw the movie RRR and I must say that SS Rajamouli Sir is a genius. Jr NTR and Ram Charan were great. I loved their bromance. The entire cast has done a wonderful job. I would love to work with Dhanush.”
The actress also confessed that she is quite an OTT enthusiast. “OTT is a great platform. Now we can stream content created worldwide such as Korean cinema and Italian cinema. OTT also creates more opportunities for young talent. I love streaming content on OTT. I like to watch web shows and my favorite picks are Killing Eve, Fleabag, Delhi Crime, Paatal Lok,” she concluded.
