Peacock exec Will Gonzalez, who was hired as EVP and chief data officer in 2021, will oversee the company’s newly created television and streaming organization, NBC President Mark Lazarus announced Wednesday.
“We are merging our research and decision science teams into one portfolio-wide television and streaming organization including applied analytics, data engineering, and data science,” Lazarus wrote in an office memo, which will be led by Will Gonzalez, our EVP and Chief Data Officer. Will be run as Officer.
He added that this integrated team will “allow us to better understand our audience across platforms, more easily leverage the resources within the portfolio, and ultimately support the highest level of decision-making across all parts of our business.”
Research teams that currently report to Entertainment Networks, NBC Sports and Telemundo will now be part of this new centralized organization, he said, adding that “they will remain aligned with and equally accountable to those businesses.”
Lazarus will “continue to oversee his current decision science and consumer insights teams within DTC,” Lazarus wrote.
“In the five years he has been at NBCUniversal, Will has done a tremendous job leading the transformation to a more data-informed culture, building tools and capabilities that allow for the democratic use of information to empower decision making. Is. will function decision science within our direct-to-consumer business, helping us achieve the best-in-class understanding of the consumer that is powering Peacock as the fastest growing US streaming service,” said Lazarus he said.
“The growth of this team under Will’s leadership is a major step forward in unifying our portfolio, and I look forward to the incredible opportunities for collaboration and collaboration,” he concluded.
Gonzalez was part of the team that launched Peacock in 2020.
