Monday evening’s finale of “The Bachelor” saw Zac Shallcross and Katy finally reveal their engagement after months of being sworn to secrecy, marking the pair’s first “do”[ing] life together,” as Zach says.
“You get down on one knee for the love of your life and you want to scream from the top of the mountain. And you can’t, you can only literally tell your closest family and your best, closest friends, Zack told TheWrap. “I want to walk the town, I want to flaunt my girl, I want everybody to know. And finally like two days ago, I could finally have a life with her.
Before Zach and Kaity make their commitment to each other – and only each other – official with a ring, the finale saw a devastating breakup between Zach and Gabi, whose conflict began during the fantasy suite. Although Zach had committed to not sleeping with any women in the week, this season’s leading man decided to come clean to Katy after he and Gabi took their relationship to the next level, which Gabi described as “violating”. ” Said.
“I didn’t want to complicate things, and I wanted to make a rule or create these boundaries that, in my mind, is going to help everybody, when really, I’m not looking at the whole situation. Zach said. “I’m not taking everyone’s… approach [into account]” he said, noting that his commitment to abstain from sex was a “crazy decision”.
TheWrap: You two were given the unique opportunity of an overnight date very early in the season. How do you think this extra time affected your relationship?
Zach: What it gave us was a lot of time in a unique situation. Immediately, we became very comfortable with each other, which was a huge surprise to us. It’s still the first time we’ve actually spent time together, not like quick chats here and there in the mansion. It was real time… Being in a museum and… [we were] Both like, ‘It’s kind of crazy.’ We almost bonded over the strangeness of everything going on together. And we hit it off.
Kaity: It was really cool to build that foundation so early on in the show, and just to know there was chemistry and there was a connection, because sometimes if you don’t have one after the other, sometimes— Sometimes you get in your head and you’re like, ‘Could this happen to me? I don’t know.’ I felt very capable in the beginning of our relationship and just hoped that it would all turn out well, and it did.
When you guys went on your actual overnight date during Fantasy Suites, did it sound familiar to both of you?
Kite: We had a lot of emotional intimacy in the fantasy suite. It was really cool to get to know each other on a deeper level because there’s always a camera in your face, you’re constantly on mics from the moment you wake up and it’s just kind of nice to feel like you’ve lost weight and that’s it. Hee ho, ‘Let’s shoot the s–t,’ and … just get to know each other more.
For that first date night, did you guys have the same parameters where the mics were off and you felt like you could really get to know each other?
Zach: I think it was still very early where we were still trying to get to know each other on a very basic level…it helped but there were still cameras…yeah, it was overnight , like the date but it was not the same.

Is it surprising that you’ve learned about each other when it’s all over?
Zach: Well, I’ve always known she’s a kind person, but she’s really sweet to me. She loves it, she doesn’t think it’s funny, but I have humor, and it’s something I appreciate. I know I’m not the funniest, but if I can make her laugh, it makes me feel better.
Kaity: He’s very organized. He does a really good impersonation of his uncle. No, just honestly, its all about that.
You told Jessie that you are planning a 2025 wedding date. How was that discussion in setting that time frame?
Kaity: It’s just because our whole experience on “The Bachelor” was so fast, pedal to the metal and it’s like, well, like our whole life together, why are we rushing things? We don’t need to do that. I feel like there’s these expectations in Bachelor Nation that you move in together right away, you should be married in this time frame and it’s like, no, let’s just go at our own pace and do things, we feel like That’s the right way.
Zach: Nothing is really set in stone. No, everything is flexible with good communication.

Can you pinpoint the moment you knew you really wanted to be with each other for the rest of your lives?
Kaity: There really wasn’t a precise moment… there were just times where it reaffirmed that I could see this man as my person, my life partner, someone I could have my ups and downs with. I want to pass through I would say that was a big determining factor in seeing when family was involved.
Zach: Right from the beginning, like one night, and we were randomly frying poutine on a date and we were doing all night and her checking up on me when she was sick in London, I knew something It was different, without a doubt. I was just constantly attracted and thinking about Katy. The exact moment where I went out of my head was when I saw her on the last chance date and it was the day before the proposal. I was like, ‘It’s you. You are all I want, you are the future mother of my children. You are my future wife. I know it.’
What’s one decision you’ve made as a couple since moving in?
Zach: Moving in together – that was the conversation … that we want to have an intimate wedding.
Kaity: A mini-destination wedding.
